Copyright Board Decision Could Force iTunes Closure

The Copyright Royalty Board (A 3 member board appointed by the Director Of The Library of Congress) is scheduled to hand down a decision on Thursday that Apple said could result in the closure of the iTunes music store.

[UPDATE] Royalty Rate Doesn’t Change for Apple, Music Retailers

The group representing music publishers had sought a per-song rate boost from 9.1 cents to 15 cents, a 66 percent increase. To sum up, Apple said, "Price hike? Take a hike."
