LG: May stand for "Litigation Grandiose"

Reuters reports:

This has to be without merit because I would think it would be Toshiba, Sony, or Panasonic (Matsushita) that would be the issue, not Quanta or Apple.

LG filed the suit with a U.S. district court in Wisconsin on July 3 and is seeking an injunction against Quanta's use of the technology and monetary compensation, the company said in a statement released on Wednesday.

"LG's claims include infringement of four patents related to DVD standard," LG said. "Quanta has been using these patents without LG's permission to produce notebook computers that were supplied to U.S. computer companies."

Quanta's major clients include top brands such as Apple, HP, Dell, and Sony [for laptop manufacture contracts].

This may be interesting because Apple DOES use LG LCD panels in their laptops. LG may be shooting themselves in the foot.

Apple is also known to "make new contracts" when threatened or "accidentally spoken about"

* Matsushita, Sony, and Toshiba currently manufacture the optical drives contained in Apple laptops.
