I mentioned this previously when OfficeMax had the Zune on sale for $20 off ... now at $70 off - it almost has to be true that the Zune is not selling well at retail.
One "immoral consumer" on DIGG posted that you COULD buy this from OfficeMax, return it to Walmart, and use the money to buy an iPod, saving you $70 off an iPod (which cough cough is NEVER discounted)
[UPDATE] An Anonymous Reader found this at Office Depot:

An observation well made!
While the majority of us knew this day would come, I guess the bigger issue is how this just further solidifies the notion that Microsoft just doesn't get it!
They're are just too big and too ingrained with the business-first model to innovate any more, if ever.

anymore?
Black, white and "Copper"??? Is that marketing talk for "Brown"?
Ha ... I noticed that too ... but couldn't remember if that was the official color - most people refer to it as "doody"
Disguise the color with as many names as you want but it still looks like a turd....
Is it just me or does this headline match yours just a little bit too closely?
Zune heavily discounted--sign of poor sales?
Want to read the item?....

Good find - I posted this story to DIGG - Bill regularly checks my DIGG profile and regularly stalks my comments there.
He was outted pretty badly by the guys at iLounge for ripping headlines, pictures, and whole reviews. I think everyone knows that he's a dweeb. But every now and then we need a refresher - thanks Roget.
By the way - you did realize he's linking to my website right?
That link in the $70 didn't show up for me when I viewed the story. Now I changed browsers it does - sorry.
It still is interesting I wasn't mentioned by name.
