In a world where voiceover talent was no longer needed!

Wow I just listened to the incredible new voice for speech synthesis in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Listen for yourself ...nothing short of amazing.

Even more incredible is that it seems to flow the words together with inflection ... something past synthetic voices only have done at random or according to punctuation.

Hi there,

Although that is impressive, what happens when everyone gets bored of the same, omnipresent voice?

There will always be a need for voice talent for a number of reasons including variety, language localization, vocal direction, interpretation, versatility, newly christened words (or words not recorded by that talent) that need to be pronounced, celebrity voice casting, character voice acting, and so on.

Technology may be making leaps and bounds, but remember, it takes a human voice in the first place to lay the foundation for those fantastical feats.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Best wishes,
