Briefly: None At All

Briefly, I wanted to cover the Mac sysadmin at University of Wisconsin Madison, Dave Schroeder, who set up a Mac mini as a "hacking" challenge to see if anyone could compromise a Mac OS X 10.4.5 system.

The test is now over and the results have been published ... with some very interesting results I might add. (All positive with no successful break in)

UWM Hack Contest/Results

I did want to stress something interesting about this test ...

One ... it did not offer a prize ... a very important distinction

Two ... most Mac OSX users DO NOT have Tiger with all updates applied as this system had

Three ... the test was only 38 hours long. It would have seemed more credible to leave it up for 2 weeks.

Four ... I do believe no matter what system ... even Mac OS 9.2.2 that no one would have broken in or been able to take the system over.
