AT&T's EDGE and UMTS data networks went down yesterday at 2:30pm Pacific Time for BlackBerry, iPhone and other cell phone data customers in 18 states. Even now the company's technicians have NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED IT. [This story was reported as inaccurate on DIGG] I can confirm however that the EDGE network was down in South Carolina for almost the whole day on Saturday. I was told by a former AT&T colleague of mine it was because AT&T was upgrading towers across the country for 3G.
