How to pair MOST Samsung Bluetooth cellphone headsets

*UPDATE September 30, 2013 … yes, this post is 5 years old but still rings true and is one of my highest ranked searches in Google. If this post helped you, please consider going to the right and sending me $1.

Since getting my iPhone I have been on a search for the perfect Bluetooth headset. A good one that just barely misses the mark for me is the Samsung WEP 200 Micro bluetooth in ear headset.

Here are the pair instructions and pairing code for some of the more stylish line of headsets from Samsung - called the WEP series:
To pair the headset in manually pairing mode:
1. With the headset off, press the center POWER button for 7 seconds until you see the headset blue light turn solid blue (no loneger flashing).
2. The indicator light will turn solid blue, which indicates that the headset is in “Pairing mode”.
3. In the phone, you now have to add the headset to the phone's list of Bluetooth devices.
4. You have to enter a Bluetooth passkey in the phone. The default passkey is 0000.

These directions apply to a lot of different bluetooth headsets. If "0000" (four zeros) does not work, try "0001" (three zeros and a one) or "1234".

Hope this helps!

If you'd like to return the favor ... please use the Amazon search at the right or consider a Paypal $1 donation. Thanks.

Thank you. I lost the directions and needed to pair my bluetooth with my blackberry - found you with a google search. I bought a new one because I thought my samsung was broken - Thanks you saved me money!!!

You're welcome!

thank you. I almost returned the bluetooth because it did not come with proper instructions. It would help if they mentioned to hold the button until the light is solid blue in pairing mode. Thanks for the instructions. they really helped.

Thanks so much! Like everyone else i lost my manual and when i got a new phone i couldn't get it to work! I love this headset.

I am able to pair the Wep-200 to my iPhone 3G with no problem, however, every time I turn the Wep-200 off (recharging) I have to go trough the whole process again, as the iPhone no longer sees the Wep-200
What am I doing wrong?

fixyourthinking said...

this seems to be an issue with the iPhone. I had this same issue with my wep-200 and with two Moto BT headsets. However ... Now I have a Plantronics bt headset and it doesn't have this problem. Apple needs to add "power saver mode" to the iPhone (which could be done via software)

fixyourthinking said...

One other thing...

Try turning the wep-200 back on after charging and hitting the call/answer button on the headset to sync it back up.

Shimon said...

Thanks for the advice, I gave it a try but it didn't do anything.
I would appreciate any advice

fixyourthinking said...

As I said, this is an issue with the iPhone not your headset - the iPhone does not look for headsets that do not have autosync - which the WEP-200 does not.

My Plantronics headset does and one of the three MOTO headsets I have tried with my iPhone does.

This totally helped me out. I have this Bluetooth and used it with my old phone and then got a new one and couldn't figure out how to sync it for the life of me. I completely forgot and lost my manual and I'm a hands free person all the way so I was a lil worried. Not anymore. Thanks so much! :)

I can not get my bluetooth connected to my new Sprint Rumor2 The bluetooth was my son-in-laws and he said it worked. It is the web200 and I followed all your directions with no luck!!!! Can you help me?

fixyourthinking said...

See if it will pair with another Bluetooth phone using my directions.

If so ... It's your cellphone

if not it's your samsung headset.

fixyourthinking said...

Also try a sprint store ...

Anonymous said...

I had to hold down the button for 10 seconds to pair it to my env touch. Works great though! Thanks!

Thanks for the information. Like everyone else, I couldn't find my instructions and did not remember the password. Saved me a trip to the store for them to pair it.

Thanks so much. I got a new phone and couldn't pair the bluetooth and I am absolutely lost without it.

Turns out, my problem was - the Bluetooth Device wasn’t in “pairing mode”. Your tip about holding the button down for 7 seconds until the there was a solid blue light did the trick. Thank you!

Thank you for this information. I notice that you're still helping people as recently as 2 days ago! As the post on 2/9/10 said, the "7 seconds" to make the light solid blue (pair mode) was what I was missing. Thanks for taking the time to have posted this for the rest of us.

I have a Samsung C3050 phone and a Samsung (not sure of model) headset. Headset has worked fine with my old Nokia phone but the Samsung C3050 can't see the headset, in pairing mode, although it finds my Nokia phone. Any help or advice appreciated.

fixyourthinking said...

Make sure you've followed all of the directions above.

Make sure no other bluetooth devices are in range or even on within 30 feet.

This will sound like I'm joking but i'm not:

Place the headset in a grocery bag and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.

The cold will help some of the metal parts contract and may "kickstart" it.

A couple things:

do you have the latest Apple firmware?

Have you tried restoring your iPhone in iTunes in a while?

Have you tried z hard reset?

Do know for certain the headset is working correctly?

I feel dumb, I have this samsung hm1000 bluetooth headset since march 6, 2011 it is now march 26, 2011 anyway, I don't know how to charge my bluetooth, do I charge it up or down with the indicator light, I have the instructions but they don't say up or down that would be very helpful, When I was at the t-mobile store the guy showed me how to do it, while selling me my cellphone the t249, I hated that phone after 2 days and took it back, now I have the nokia 2720 cellphone which is a simpler phone for what I need a cellphone for, is this the bluetooth headset that I need with this cellphone and if it's not what bluetooth headset do I need for it. Please help me because I am beyond frustrated.

fixyourthinking said...

I would reconsider and get one if the more simpler motorola headsets that are $30-$40

I should have googled first and could have found you rather than waiting for 45 minutes at an ATT store, to be referred to an Apple Genius which they were not able to help. I went to Samsung website but was instructed to call a different number at a different time. Your tech support worked. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

omg.....I feel like a complete dork!! I tried everything & was just saying that "holding the button down thing wont work..."...I decided to follow everybody else and just do it...thanks everybody. sometimes its just better to follow the crowd, SOMETIMES!! lol again thanks saved my money!!

Anonymous said...

Worked for me, thanks as I had forgotten how to pair the device.

Anonymous said...

thanks so much. struggled with this for days. was told sometimes you need to search like a hundred times till it pairs. i didnt know anything about the blue light pairing mode. worked immediately. thank you!!!

Anonymous said...

Very helpful. Magic words "hold button for 7 seconds until solid blue light comes on". You are a genius.

Anonymous said...

You are a lifesaver! Thank you so much for saving me LOTS of hassle and money. I had the same problem as JJWright--iphone kept searching and searching and not finding the bluetooth device (Samsung wep2000). As you directed, hold the button on the bluetooth headset until the blue light is solid, and then LET GO of the button. Sounds silly, I know, but I pressed and held the button until I saw a solid (not blinking) blue light and still no connection with the phone...then I let go of the button and voila, the iPhone found the Bluetooth.

Anonymous said...

great advice, but still cant connect it with my HTC diamond 2 any suggestions ?thank you

fixyourthinking said...

Can you check to make sure

1) if bluetooth is on (on the phone and the headset is on)

2) if you have the latest version of android

3) if the headset has been fully charged and/or has a good battery.

4) test with another phone to make sure its functioning properly.

Hey! Thanks a lot. I had the same problem as jjwright with my iphone4 and my Samsung WEP301, it was as simple as I was letting go the button before time. Someone on August 30th posted a comment that really helped me. I was just turning on the WEP, not holding the button until it was blue solid. Something as simple as that was making me crazy. Thank you anonymous. Alexandra.

Legends !! Couldn't for the life of me remember how to pair my bluetooth headset to my new phone as like everyone else lost the manual. Had the galaxy ace but now have the galay S3 (which is amazing by the way) and needed to re-pair my headset. Holding the power button on for 7 secs was the best bit of advice. Once light is constant just scan for bluetooth devices and bob's your uncle :)
Thanks guys

I know it's been many years, I just found my wep200 again, but it doesn't seem to pair with my iPhone 5s nor iPad 4, anyone has this problem?

Thanks a lot!

fixyourthinking said...

Seems ok on my end with my 5 & iOS 7.0.4

Note you cannot have the headset paired to two devices at the same time and Bluetooth being on on both devices may cause interference.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the super quick response!
It keeps saying it cannot detect my wep200 after pairing, sigh. I will have to try again after I fully charge it, it's been 6 yrs since I last used my wep200

thank you alot for your help
but i still have a peoblem:
1- when the headset is in pairing mode, the tab connects without asking for password, and it keeps like "paired but not connected" after several trials, it connects then returns to "paired but not connected"
2- if i do not go into pairing mode and just turn it on with the flushing blue light, it asks for password, but also returns to the "paired but not connected issue"

I have a samsung wep 301 and an HTC tablet.

thanks in advance

fixyourthinking said...

Have you tried pairing the headset with another device to test it?

Also, if you can update the software on your tablet, do so.

If neither of these work your headset may have temperature damage. (Can happen even if new/never used)
